Chardonnay 2016
Tasting Notes
Yellow-green in colour, this wine exudes generous citrus fruit aromas complimented by a distinct mineral taste where all the flavours come together on the palate with rich creamy biscuity notes. Well balanced acidity ensures that this complex wine retains exquisite elegance.
The Wooded Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc 2016 wines were both made in the same style. Wines produced were hand-picked early in the morning to maintain the freshness of the fruit, then crushed and fermented in 5 year old french oak barrels where the wine aged on its lees for 6 – 10 months
40 % of the barrel fermented wine was then blended with 60% unwooded, which makes for very well balanced wine with a lot of fruit aroma and complemented with a hint of wood to round off the palate.
In The Vineyard
The 15 year old vineyard is planted in lime-rich soil, with a clay component atop deep riverstone, which provides good drainage.
